Birthday Hunt!!!!!!!

Wed, AJ will be 11, yikes! But, Saturday Chris and I did some last minute shopping. Also I did the dreaded ~ Sams on a Saturday!!!!!!!! Anyway, Chris bought AJ the new Wii Toy Story Mania arcade game. AJ has been coveting this game for weeks! Being, that it was the weekend I asked Chris if he was going to give AJ the gift early so he could enjoy the game? Chris said yes, but then he came up with a brilliant idea. I've discussed how I have Brilliant kids before.
Chris decided to hide the game in the car. When we got home he told AJ, "I bought your birthday present, and you can have it, but you have to find it in the car!" Also, " You need to unload the $600+ of stuff from Sams and if you find trash, put in the dumpster!"

My car has never been unloaded so fast! After 10 minutes AJ came in and asked if this was a con or a joke? He couldn't find a present! Keep looking!! A little while later he came in holding questionable trash asking, "What kind of present is this?" Keep looking we said. We decided we'd better go outside and monitor the situation. Chris and I laughed and laughed!

AH, he's getting warmer!!

BINGO!!! Now, if my hearing will just return from the screeching that AJ did! I'm really surprised that the neighbors didn't come running because AJ screeched for several seconds.

Pi-nstein Day!

I'm giving you plenty of time! Look at this, ThinkGeek is an incredible web site!

While ordering some gadgets for my son's birthday, I noticed the header add for Pi-nstein day on 3/14. Well this house is definitely Geeky. No, I didn't know off the top of my head that Einstein was born on March 14th, but as the T says, 2+2=5!!!!!

Pi in mathematical terms is 3.14159265 etc! So I can see whereThinkGeek gets 3-14 to be Pi-nstein Day!

I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention, so they have time to order their very own t shirts, ice cube trays, or dolls in honor of this day!! (No, I don't work for this company!) I like to share cool information!

Come on, lets have a big Pi-nstein Day Party, who's in?

Snow Day, For Me?

Yes I woke up this morning at 4am!!! Such an unearthly hour anyway you look at it. It had started snowing last night so I peaked outside to see if we had any accumulation, WOW! Probably 6" of the white stuff, YIKES!!!!!!! Kevin was leaving early to work in another ER this morning, now he would have to leave earlier.

Back to bed to try to get a few more ZZZZ's. Hmm, no luck, Kevin's alarm goes off at 5, he leaves at 5:30, but he must come in kiss me goodbye and tell me that my plan to use paint tarps on the windshield worked wonderfully! He doesn't have to scrape ice and snow off the car. Just pull off the tarp!! See, I have a good idea once in awhile!

OK, back to sleep, right? Wrong!! 6am, phone rings, this is the LISD automated phone system, school will be delayed 2 hours for all grade levels! Oh GOODY!! I go across the house and tell the kids, you can sleep in!

Back to bed. NOT!!!!!! 6:30am, the phone rings, this is Texas Tech University automated phone system, all classes until 9:30 are canceled. Classes after the 9:30 hour will be held according to normal procedure! Wonder BA! Now I have to call my son, Chris, at his apartment. Tell me why I'm the one listed for the emergency weather contact info when he is the one in class? Chris has class at 11, he is bummed that his class isn't delayed! Oh, how are the roads, he asks?!!!!!! I DON'T KNOW! Call you DAD, I'm in bed!!!!

For the 4th time, I'll lay down and rest until I have to take the kids to school, I've heard from everyone this morning! 7am I get a text from Kev, he made it safely to the ER, 1.5 hours for a 45 minute trip! OK, that was good news.

8:30am my phone rings yet again!!! My manager says, I don't have to come to work! I get a snow day!!!! Really, a Snow Day for me?? WOW!!

At this point I get up, I'm doomed, not going to get any sleep, have to get the kids ready for school, and go see the snow! Maybe I'll sleep tonight!!

That is when I return from Planet Hoth, because after this winter, that is where we now live!

Wanting to move to Tatooine!

Boredom Busters part Deux

I married a brilliant man, therefore my children are brilliant!! What does that have to do with my topic? Look at these pictures, AJ has discovered the domino effect! When he was little he tried to build some domino groups, but last week he really got it down.

This is when I wish I could get the video to work on blogger. I've tried before and just can't get it to work :( To see these creations collapse is so much fun. You'll just have to suffice with the still photos. I somehow missed General Grievous.

This was AJ's design/idea!!

Oh, back to my brilliant children ~ both AJ and Amelia missed most of the week of school. Unfortunately it was the end of the grading period. Upon returning to school Monday, they had to make up tests, no warning, both got 100's!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, just had to share. If you missed my first blog on what we did while home ill, read the first Boredom Busters!

Boredom Busters

What do you do when you are home ill all week? AJ and Amelia made tanagrams! I think they did an excellent job!

Can you see a kitty face?

The picture I really want I can't get to upload properly! I keep turning it, and it keeps turning back! Ugh, sometimes technology eludes me!!!!!!

I think we finally got the RSV bug out of this house!

Sooo Many pictures!

We all know that backing up our computers is essential. I have personally experienced computer crashes that are devastating both in our business and personally. I convinced Kevin to subscribe to Carbonite, however when I got my new Macbook Pro we have been having problems getting the subscription transferring over! I digress....

Since the year 2000, wow, 10 yrs ago, I have used a service called Snapfish! I just love Snapfish. Back in days of old, I would put my film in the little plastic envelope, wait a week, and then voila, I would have my pictures in my hands and in my e-mail. Then I could send out e-mails and all my friends all over the country could see my pictures!!!

Fast forward 10 years, now, I can upload my digital pictures to Snapfish and know that my priceless memories are backed up :) I can make gifts, order prints ~ very cost effective, and share with friends. Though, now that we have blogs, fb, and other mediums, sharing isn't my big priority. I can edit photos, and add cool borders to my pictures!

What is the reason for this post you are asking yourself about now? No, I'm not getting paid to do a commercial for Snapfish!! I just spent the last week uploading photos from 2009 to them! I got a little busy last year, and didn't do it on a regular basis like I normally do, so in the evenings, and while home ill, I let my computer churn away! Hour upon hour it sat here and loaded my photos to Snapfish.

I was absolutely amazed while going through my photos that I took 1124 photos in Bethany/OKC last summer while visiting my niece, Stephanie! Or that while on vacation last summer I took 1,895 photos!

I took Photos of stripping ~ paint that is, painting, refinishing furniture, getting a new front door, activities at school, kids dressing up, cooking, parties, and just about anything you can think of!

But one of my biggest subjects last year for photos? These guys:

Changing Day!

Today while I rested, trying to feel better, I picked up the house some. Along with that came taking down the pink and red ~ Valentine's ~ and the putting up of the GREEN!

Luckily, These 'minor' holidays don't have as much decor as Christmas! Are you decorating for St. Patrick's Day??

Lets Play Pool!

Gizmo and R2-D2 stretch out for the ball!

Talus is checking out a pocket on the table!!

Who has the ball this time??
Gizmo, R2-D2, Corellia, and Talus all look for the balls!

Just had to share these pictures from when the cats where kittens last summer!! They love chasing balls around on the pool table and diving into the pockets! Even to this day, they are quite funny!
Another advantage to having an old free pool table!! The kitties can't harm it!

It's MY Room!

Last night in the den sitting on the Love seat, I was stating to Kev that here I am 49. I've been married to him 25 years in June, we dated for 2 years, so I was explaining to him that I've known him over half my life! He said, yeah, 54 would be half. I shot him a look, then leaned over and Kissed him!

Amelia and AJ were also in the den. AJ, without skipping a beat pipes up and says, "get a room!" I reply, "It is MY room, my house!"

I guess we have officially reached the over the hill age where we embarrass our children and they don't want to see us kiss! I mean, come on we weren't making out!

Happy Valentine's Day from the old Fuddy Duddy's!!

Hats for Haiti

This is the hat AJ chose to wear last week when, if you brought $1 or more, you could wear a hat to school! The kids at his school Raised over $500 for the Red Cross!

I believe all the schools in the district did this, because just a few days prior, Amelia had crazy hair ~ crazy sock ~ and PJ day all for $1 each and all for Haiti. She was a real sight that day!

It might not seem like much, $1, but when brought together in the district, all the schools, it does add up!

New Cat Toy!

No need to buy R2-D2 and Gizmo toys, they find the most unusual things to play with! AJ was playing with the labyrinth and both cats were right in the middle of it!

How about yours, do they play with strange things?

Drowned Rat

If I end up in the hospital with pneumonia, ya'll can remind me that I got drenched to the bone last Wed in the COLD pouring RAIN carting Mom around!

My umbrella broke, it was a comedy of errors and I really looked like a drowned Rat. The only picture is in my phone, and I can't get it from the phone to the computer, sorry! But trust me, you missed a sight! Just laugh real hard right now.

I miss summer and won't complain about heat!

English, A Poor Way to Communicate!

Do You think English is easy??? .... a new twist

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce.

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish furniture.

5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

10) I did not object to the object.

11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

13) They were too close to the door to close it.

14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.

15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.

16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in
pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? You have one goose, 2 geese; so one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices?

Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel that your house can burn up as it burns down, you fill in a form by filling it out and, an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

- Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick'?

You lovers of the English language might enjoy this.

There is a two-letter word that has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP.'

It's easy to understand: UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car...

At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is ordinary, but to be dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can have UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. But when the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.

When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.

One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so......it is time to shut UP!

Maybe I should take up French!

The Day the Music Died

Remembering today is a tragic anniversary. 51 years ago today, America lost 3 of the biggest names in music. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Vallens, and the Big Bopper were killed on a plane crash in Iowa.

So take a moment to remember those great musicians who lost their lives prematurely.

Snow Days!

That last round of weather came through and actually closed schools here! We had torrential rain, then ice, then freezing sleet, then snow. Here the snow is sooo pretty!

The kids played with the neighbors on the golf course and the trampoline.

The ice in the trampoline net is really cool!

Is it summer yet???
