My Topsy Turvy World.....

Well, you know life goes on right? I mean, hello! And as my Niece, Stephanie, points out, you all really do need a break from vacation pictures!!! Yes, I'm trying to mix it up and poor Old Faithful, and Mt. Rushmore are going to have to wait.

Why? You ask on pins and needles on the edge of your seat as the suspense builds, aren't you into mysteries????

Because, I'm in total turmoil, chaos, confusion, and any other term you can come up with. Last Friday, 7 AM, Ye Gods! (reference Music Man!), the roofers show up, all day long Pounding, Stomping, and Thumping! But wait, there's more! They had to come back on Saturday!

Then, Monday, the contractor calls, now that the roof is on, we can fix your 3 ceilings and paint your 2 rooms that were damaged in that storm!! Start moving out the small furniture, toys, and get things off the wall!!

So, once again, I've been absent. Below is what my house looks like. Sigh, I just have to tell myself that in the long run it will all be worth it!!!

The pictures aren't in, sorry, no time for that! The sun/game room, AJ's room are the ones with new ceilings and paint. The Guest room only had a small patch in the ceiling!














AJ's toys are in the living room, the pool table is in the dining room along with
a lot of the Wii rock band/drums, and so forth. A book case from the game room that holds medical books and doctor figurines, well the figurines are all over my kitchen table! Dust is everywhere, the cats wanted to pull down the plastic that was hung when they 'shot' the ceilings, and the insurance isn't paying for AJ's bathroom to be painted! I'll have to do his sink/closet area. The kids have a Pullman bath. So my projects just keep coming!

I'll have to do an update on Amelia's room, it is looking very sharp now, and the shower area is shaping up nicely!

So, what's happening in your corner of the world? I've been so far behind in reading your blogs, I may never catch up :( I do think about all my bloggy friends and miss you all much.

Car Wreck - OUCH!!!!

Thank the Lord, he wasn't hurt. Tyler had a wreck Thursday. This is the result.
A big honking pick up with a tow ball stopped suddenly because the car in front of it stopped for no reason! The car then took off. Tyler put on the brakes, skidded for 30' but didn't get stopped. The ball went right through the radiator and crumpled the hood. Oh my! No ticket was issued because the 3rd car left, not knowing it caused a wreck.

Tyler is very upset. This was his first car. Yes it was a 2000 model, but he had it for 14 months and it was a reliable car.

We are playing the waiting game AGAIN with the insurance company. We just got done with them totaling Chris' car because of hail damage!

Will they total this one?? I'm not holding my breath. Stay tuned!

Guess it was to much to ask that Tyler make it to age 21 without a wreck? He will be 19 in July. I'm tired of insurance claims! The Hail Storm of April 16th means we will be getting a new roof, gutters, and repairs inside from some leaks! Kevin's car just had $5ooo of damage repaired. As I said, Chris' car is totaled from hail dents and now Tyler is devastated.

Can life get any more exciting? No, wait, I didn't ask that!! Well, you know where you'll find me, I'll be at OTB having a frozen margarita!!

Hail Damage - OH BOY!!!

The insurance adjuster came today, yes, Sunday!!!! Remember that hail storm I blogged about? The flood waters? The carpet cleaning? That was just the beginning!!!

We are going to be getting a new roof, new gutters, and new storage trunk on the porch. Then, when I was cleaning, I found damage in AJ's room, the roof leaked, and water came in and made a spot in the ceiling and ruined the texture and drywall! So..... AJ will be getting his room re-done. The bad spot will be repaired, which will involve tearing up wall paper and border. This also means the entire ceiling will have to be repainted and textured!!! As well as wall paper redone and border redone. The paper and border are 11 yrs old, don't think I can still find that same one!!

The ceiling in the sun room now game room will also be repainted!! There was a small leak around a light fixture!

Just when I thought my life couldn't get any more complicated! IF any of this begins before June 1 I may loose my sanity and you will have to look me up at a local asylum!

More Damage

Remember this??? In the midst of the 'lovely' hail storm the other night!


Here's a look at what hail can do!!! That circle in the hail up above was actually this hole. My trunk was only bought last summer!


Now, what we found really interesting, was this. The next morning, some 13 hours AFTER the hail storm, we still have hail piled up on the ground, just like snow!! Usually when we get hail, it melts within the hour!!! This just awed me!

Here are pictures of Kevin's poor Honda, I'm referring to it as a colander! Maybe not quite that bad, but you get the idea!

Assessing the Damage

OK, we discovered at about 10PM that the garden drains did NOT drain and the 4" of hail let the pool of water start seeping into the the house!!! My den was soaked as-well-as part of my master bedroom!!

Can this night get any better?? Start in with moving the furniture, getting towels to sop up water, getting the fans, and the shop vac!! Are we having fun yet?? Friday morning I called the carpet cleaners. Luckily, I have used them in the past, I was pleasantly surprised when they told me they would come on Saturday!!

I thought I'd share pictures of my chaotic house today! I could barely walk through my kitchen, the front hall, and sun room with the furniture piled in it.

My Kitchen!!! You can't see the table, but the sofa, love seat, and table made it quite difficult navigate!

It took 6 hours for the carpets to dry. But at least I shouldn't have to worry about mold. The living room, dining room, and den are clean!

The crazy thing - insurance. That is a four letter word!!!! Seepage is not covered, water damage from a damaged roof is covered, but not water seeping in!!

Guess the hail should have taken the roof off!
