It was a RISKY Day/Night!
What happens when dad gets a day off and actually wasn't wiped out the day before in the ER? Family game day!!! And if this family isn't playing Tripoly, then its playing RISK! Chris had popped in so that was extra nice! I was taking down Christmas, getting ready for NYE. Kevin, Chris, Amelia, and AJ went to war!
here is what that looked like:
After RISK, everyone felt bad that I hadn't played, so I got drafted into STAR WARS RISK!!!!!! We play teams in this one, because I need help explaining what force power is best to use when! I'm an old dog, hard to teach new tricks to! Chris and I were the Republic, Kevin and AJ were the Empire! It was touch and go, the dice were not kind to Chris and myself. The Empire got a much better foothold than they should have!
Here we are playing:
However, even after, Order 66 by the Empire, the Republic pulled it out!! That's right, Chris and I won! We were left with 2 measly planets and my turn was last. The dice finally favored me and I captured The Emperor! Like I said, it was a Risky day/night!!
Hope you and your family have been enjoying your holiday break together!

It's Christmas Eve!
I can't believe it, Christmas Eve is here and I'm ready!! The presents have been wrapped for 2 weeks! I've been baking for over a week now, and yesterday I started the Christmas dinner cooking! I don't know what happened this year, but somehow with being so busy I got myself organized!
Tyler won't be able to make it home from school/work until New Years, so with my 5, and Mom, I'm only cooking for 13!! Wait, that didn't add up did it? Friends are coming over that don't have places to be so they won't be lonely! I'll have a house full. We are combining cooking efforts. We will have turkey, ham, prime rib, and all the side dishes you can imagine. Pies, cookies, pies, chex mix, puppy chow, fudge, did I mention pies? We have Creamy Cheese Pie, Pecan pie, and Pumpkin pie! We have Red Hot Popcorn, and lots of Holly Cookies!
If anyone in this house goes hungry over this long weekend, it is there own fault! It is a good thing I've been working on my diet before the holidays :-)
I'm wishing all my friends a Very Merry Christmas with your friends and family and Happy New Year. Be safe, Be Blessed, Laugh, Love, and share your good fortunes.

My 5X5X5 Day!
Yep, I'm back, worn out but back! Lets see, I've survived Thanksgiving, managed to stay inside all day Black Friday, and then there was Saturday!
Had received a phone call a while back, Jeanne, one of Kev's cousins was going to have a Thanksgiving get together on Saturday after turkey day and wanted as many of the cousins as possible to come. WOW! We hadn't seen Jeanne and any of her family in about 12 years! I needed to make this happen, quick call and start working on Kev's schedule!!!
Jeanne lives in Clinton, OK. We live in Lubbock, TX. This means a 5 hour drive! Let me just say, if you are a pilot, DON'T have a heart attack. Getting your license back is a lot of red tape.....
Saturday morning, I get up, get ready. Kevin drives in from Littlefield ~ an hour away. He had worked most of Thanksgiving week, hardly saw him. We piled in the van, the kids act like we are moving when we take a road trip ~ 5 blankets, 4 pillows, 6 movies, and 4 water bottles!! I started driving so Kevin could sleep, not much rest in the ER. Didn't see any police on the road between Lubbock and Amarillo, but after Amarillo, they were thick! The police were really working I-40. We finally made it to Oklahoma, and yest we sang the state song! Kev took over driving, we had another hour to hour and 1/2.
1:15 we arrived in Clinton and got to see a BUNCH of cousins! Food was in abundance everywhere and it was great to see family we hadn't seen in all these years! AJ was in heaven to meet MALE cousins, and better yet, ones that LOVE Star Wars as much as he does!! Now AJ is scheming on how to get back to OKC where these cousins live :-)
The kids all ran around and played and the adults talked. I realize that we didn't get pictures taken :-(
After several hours everyone started packing up to leave. All the groups had drives, but we had the longest! So after 5 hours of visiting, we headed back into the van to head home.
Back on the road for another 5 hour car trip!
5 hours driving, 5 hours visiting, 5 hours driving! Yep, it was my 5 by 5 by 5 day and it was worth every mile!
How was your long weekend.? Kev went back to work Sunday night, and the kids went back to school Monday. I'm putting up Christmas now!!

Bricktown
Bricktown is in down town OKC. It is a mini river walk like what San Antonio has.
We took the kids down here so Ashley could experience Bricktown! We had to take a break from the pool for a little while!
This is where the canal dead ends and the fountain I think recycles the water.
The kids loved being able to cool off in the fountains :-)
This did poor Reagan's hair in!
One of the fun things about Bricktown is all the painted wall murals. Like with this one it is difficult to tell where are kids are and where the painted kids are!
At the other end of Bricktown are the Oklahoma Land Run Statues. These statues are larger than life.
Look how little AJ appears on the back of that horse!
Attention to detail is amazing....
So, if you ever get to OKC be sure to take time to go to Bricktown, you'll be glad you did.

Don't Rain on our Parade!
If you've been reading my blog you know we spent the holiday in OKC, well, Bethany! The annual Parade wasn't 100* It was overcast and misty with a few peaks of sunshine!

Me and Stephanie! I had to put my flags somewhere! Also, I was trying to distract from the naturally curly mess atop my head!
Every parade has the obligatory police cars, mustangs, corvettes, boy scouts, politicians, and fire trucks, but I loved this old fire truck!
However, the main reason we go and watch the parade is for these guys. I call them the Inflate-A-Gang!
Ninja Ballerina Ashley, Doc carried the candy, Sumo AJ, Reagan as a Unicorn, Lead Ballerina Shawn ~ AKA crazy ballerina, and Kenndy as Disco Clown (kind of hidden)
Amelia the smiley ballerina, and the rest of the inflatables!
About 5 minutes after this the rain picked up. Our cameras has been put away, and we decided to go to the car. Then the rain really came down. Normally the parade walkers have a car at the fair grounds or walk home. This year we decided we'd better rescue them.
A bunch of soggy kids!
And some soggy husbands! Thank goodness Stephanie drives a big car.
So, did you enjoy your local parade?

Ooh Aah!
It was a soggy 4th of July weekend for a lot of the country. Hurricane Alex dampened cookouts and fireworks in many places, but luckily in Bethany, OK the fireworks were scheduled on the 3rd! It rained on our parade, literally, but not the fireworks :-) I could post pics forever, but I think you get the idea!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend.

On the Road Again!
Groom, TX
Ashley and Me in front of the cross.
The kids and I had a 5 day weekend for the 4th of July! We went to Bethany, OK and visited with family. This will probably be easier to blog in several blogs because 4th July is in and of itself a full blog!
(Kevin arrived on Friday to join the festivities)

The sign claims to be the largest cross in the world, but I was corrected on fb, so I'm just going to say this is a VERY large cross with very nice statues surrounding it.
Dear sweet Ashley, our neighbor, my 'adopted' daughter went with us. Ashley has never been to Oklahoma! We managed to keep her going a secret from Stephanie's 3 girls for over 3 months! Quite an accomplishment when you take into consideration fb and Amelia and AJ knowing!!
A few blocks from Stephanie's house Ashley climbed into the trunk and covered herself in all the blankets. Upon arrival, Amelia and AJ get out of the car and say look what we brought! The girls ran to the trunk, out rolled Ashley! Stephanie has better pictures, as I was still trying to get out of the van! The girls were quite happy to see Ashley.

Easter
Kevin had to work in the ER all day, Tyler was in OK. I cooked dinner on Sat. night but we didn't get any pictures of that! The Easter Bunny managed to hide a few eggs and bring a few goodies. Amelia and AJ had gone to the park the day before and were sun burned.
Tomorrows wind chill is going to be 25*! Is this Spring or what?? I'm worn out from all the moving!
Hope yours was blessed.
