The 'all knowing' weather man has predicted a high of 40* for today. A real HEAT wave! after a week barely making the teens 40* will seem almost tropical for us and I'm sure there will be boys in shorts at school when I pick up my kids! Yes, it was only 10* this morning but these smart alec middle school kids wear shorts to school!
But I digress, maybe we will thaw out and the snow will melt before we get hit by the next system. Yes, we are suppose to get MORE! Yikes. In fact, 2 systems are suppose to his us both Sunday and Wednesday next week. I may never leave my home :-)
But I discovered, women handle cabin fever better than men! I don't mind being home, but Kevin being under the weather and home for 2 days was going bonkers!
I finally did manage to dig my van out yesterday afternoon. It hadn't left its parking spot since Monday after school. I also estimate that Lubbock got 4" of snow from what was on the van. With Kevin coming in Tuesday and being home, I've used his car since it was cleaned off.
Oh, I'll let you in on another secret. The other reason I don't like snow on the ground, I have to put on shoes to take the kids to school in the morning! I normally just put on my slippers! I know it is the small things in life, but having to put on socks and snow boots to drive 1.5 miles to school and then come home and take them off so I can shower is such a pain! So, you know my deep dark secret! I drive to school in my slippers! I wonder how many other mothers do that?!?
Well, Time to go buy a birthday present for a party for AJ to go to tomorrow. And probably go to the grocery store. If we are having snow Sunday night, I won't be able to do my weekly shopping on Monday morning, sigh...

Footprints in the Snow!
This morning AJ was all excited. "Mom, we have tracks in the back yard", he told me. I had to rush to 3 windows to see all the tracks in the back yard. AJ speculated as to what animals were making the tracks. Although we live in the city, our subdivision use to be a lake, many, many years ago. We have a golf course (useless to me) and we get our share of wild life through here. I have seen possums, raccoons, and a red tail fox! So, I have strange tracks in my backyard, wonder what they are??
Sorry, it is too cold to stay out here and get very many and the lens fogs up and I keep getting blurry images! Oh well!
Going back under my blankies!

Baby Its COLD Outside!
While most of the country is digging out from the latest blizzard, I'm trying to dig under blankets! I live in TX, it is suppose to be mild in the winter, not -9*!!!
Baby its COLD outside!!! Yes we got some snow and ice, not much, we have more wind and cold than anything. It was enough to wreak havoc with roads and cause a snow day for schools, AMAZING! The University canceled classes until noon.
I grew up in Chicago, and I kept moving South to get away from the cold. I went to Oklahoma State University, I stayed in OK. I married, and Kev and I lived in Oklahoma! We have lived in Texas for 18 years. I don't like the cold! I want warm weather back, and yes, I remember the HEAT of last summer and I did NOT complain! I'm tired of bundling up and I really think I'm part bear. I'm hibernating more and more during the winter months. I'm serious. Getting out in this cold is a real chore. There are days that I only take kids to school and pick them up!
Come on summer, bring back warm weather! In the mean time you can find me under the blankets.....

CRUISIN'
Exciting is hardly the adjective I need! I got tired of waiting for the wait list to open for the 'members only' cruise to open and just decided to book a cruise!!!
YES!!!! That is correct, the entire family, all 6 of us will be going on a cruise, just after Thanksgiving! I'm putting our DVC points to good use. Oh, sorry, Disney Vacation Club, to you non Disney people! This is like a time share, but runs on points. We can go to many locations in the USA, and exchange through RCI Travel, but, we are Disney thru and thru and since my first cruise last year for our anniversary, I'm hooked!
So, we will explore the new Disney Dream, the newest member of the DCL fleet. I can't wait, but I will have to. Sigh! I've been absorbing all the info I can about the new ship, and I'll try not to bore you with details, but if you find out something about it please feel free to share your knowledge with me!

Obamacare??
My rage for the US Congress has me searching for words tonight. If you don't want Obamacare you will have to pay an excise tax to the Federal Government UNLESS you qualify for an exemption:
Exemptions:
1. You are in Prison
2. If you have ANY Indian ancestry at all (Native American??)
3. If you feel it is against your Religion: Islamic; Christian Scientist; Jewish
4. If you are an ILLEGAL ALIEN living in the USA
REALLY??? Why would we pass a LAW with an exemption for Illegal aliens?????? They are breaking the law being here, but are exempt from paying taxes ~ still get free health care! Go Figure! Please share this.
Can we recall the entire US Congress? Aren't the people we elect to vote Bills into law suppose to READ them before they vote them into law?
Most people that know me know I'm not overly political. But, COME ON! This is absolutely crazy. I really thought I lived in the USA!
