We are Still Alive!

Hello friends!

I just realized I've been MIA!! Where has the time gone?

Let me back track. I think I've mentioned that my Mom has been hit with sudden Alzheimer's/dementia. Mid July she started a fire in her microwave in her assisted living apartment. That is the night the managers told me she had exceeded the requirements for level of care that they provided. I needed to find an alternate place for her to live. The search was on.

Lubbock has a 'new' facility called Raider Ranch that I will now refer to as R.R. They have a beautiful campus. A four story independent living building. Complete independent cottages, an assisted living building, and then the Memory Unit where Mom is now. The R.R. Memory unit is completely locked down. I have a key fob to get in and out! Pets are allowed to visit, they have lots of activities and memory stations, and a full staff to assist the residents. We feel sure Mom is being cared for and she can't wonder off. Also, no more fires.

So, I arranged the movers, packed her up, unpacked her, hung pictures, and Chris is keeping the dog. My brother and sis-in-law came to town we had a huge garage sale. let me tell you, garage sales are a LOT of work!!!! Now I'm getting kids to dentist, doctor, hair, trying to get set up with ortho, and get all the stuff for school. UGH! Yes, I said the dreaded S word! School starts Aug 23rd here. Where did Summer go?

Well, hopefully it won't be another 3 weeks before I blog again. Oh, and the picture above? That was 2 days ago, when the 3 of us got our hair done! It is blurry, but I wasn't taking the picture!

Have a great weekend! Enjoy what's left of summer!

Glad that you have your Mother settled in her new place, that has to be a relief.
School started here on Aug. 3rd. I think the summers get shorter every year. But, we are getting back into "school routine". I think my daughter gets her first progress report next week.
I look forward to checking in on your family in the coming days.
