M-I-C-K-E-Y.........????
Maybe I'm biased, but does not everyone in this wonderful country NOT know what a MICKEY icon is???? So, I went to have a pedicure before the cruise. I wanted Mickey on my big toes! I know, I'm crazy, tell me something new! We pull up pics on my phone, one after the other. I kept telling the Vietnamese lady I want a Mickey icon in little stones. I have to redo my big toes, this is what I got! I'm not pleased.
This is what I got
This is what I wanted! I had to do it myself!
Memorial Day....
Today is a day we choose to remember our fallen soldiers, our lost loved ones, and stand together as Americans. I found a few quotes to think about....
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.
Mark Twain
Heroism on command, senseless violence, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism - how passionately I hate them!
Albert Einstein
And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.
John F. Kennedy
Just saying, I'm remembering everyone today. Thanks to our soldiers, veterans, and the loved ones who are no longer with us. We honor all of you.

Life Interupts!
Hello Bloggy friends! Sorry for the long absence but life sort of got in the way. May is way too busy!
Here is AJ's 5th grade field trip to Joyland. Joyland is a local amusement park that I haven't been to personally in years. It has really grown. The entire 5th grade end of school party, field trip was here! I believe fun was had by all!
See for yourself.
AJ took the water camera and shot pictures while coming down the water slide inside the tube!
Going down the roller coaster!
Going up the roller coaster!
AJ with his friends at the top of the water slide!
We are ready for summer. When field trips hit I know summer is almost here!!

Trying to Be a Good Wife!
My Monday....
After taking the kids to school, Kevin comes in from 24 hours in a very busy ER and no surprise says, no sleep. Unfortunately, the schedule had to be that he has to do a 12 hour night shift, so to bed he goes. By the way, his car is out of gas, he has to leave town by 5:45 in the evening, it is 8:30AM, good night!!!
I take the cell and the car keys. The local water company is suppose to come and put salt in the water softener, I thought 9am, but when I look at my calendar it is 1pm! My memory! So, I start some more laundry, clean the guest bath, guest bedroom, vacuum the far side of the house and realize I don't have chicken in the freezer.
Trying to be a good wife, I figure I'll gas up Kev's car for him. I'll take his phone so it doesn't wake him. i head out. It is 90*, blowing 50mph, and humid for us. I crack the sunroof.
Uh, oh, it doesn't want to close. Back and forth 3" it goes, the roof won't close! Crap, Kev cleaned the car last week, the inside is spotless, with the wind blowing the car will be full of dust in no time!
While the gas chings away, yes that's a word, I call the car dealer. I have the number memorized! My dealer is named Kevin, not to confuse you. Kevin, this is Carrie, my hubby's sunroof won't close. He just came off 24, he's sleeping, I'm gassing the car, he's leaving tonight, and I'm expecting workers at the house in an hour!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!
Are you near the dealership? Yes, bring the car to me now. 5 minutes later. I have 3 men in a Honda accord trying to get a sunroof closed!!
GASP, my Kev's cell phone is NOT on my hip. It must be in the car, fallen out when I got gas. Men, call the phone. 3 men in car, looking and listening for a phone! NO ma'am, no phone in this car!!
Kevin from dealership, we can't fix sunroof, leave the car, I'll get you a loaner, you go home and don't worry about the car.
Now, where is the phone?? Back to the gas station. Anyone turn in a phone? NO? Did you call it? Me, YES!! Put some gas in loaner car so hubby can drive tonight! Drive back to the house, my phone starts to ring, it is Kev's phone calling!
Hello, we found this phone in an alley? It belongs to Kevin? Yes, that is my husband, I've been retracing my steps, it fell off my hip! We are at DQ. Great, I'll be there in 5 minutes!
Sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed!

I'm Proud, But.......
We just had recognition for Amelia, and she received certificates for Honor Roll and Citizenship. Yes, like I said we are proud, but is this necessary? The school system here has award ceremonies at the end of every school year and EVERY student gets a certificate for something!!!
By the time they get to graduation, my kids could care less about the Pomp and Circumstance!!!! My 2 oldest sons didn't want to go to these proceedings by the time 8th grade hit, and I practically had to bribe them to go graduation!
So, my question is this, should the school do away with these award programs and make the kids wait until graduation?? Therefore graduation would be special. Or, should we keep going like we are and kids keep receiving certificates for being good citizens, which I think should be NORMAL!!!!
Don't get me wrong, Kevin and I are very proud of our children. Amelia has worked VERY hard this school year. But we are wondering, are the schools promoting mediocrity?
Just food for thought! What do you think?

Breakfast in Bed!! How was Your Mom's Day??
Mother's Day found me being greeted by my 2 young kiddos bringing breakfast they had cooked into my bedroom! Kevin was once again out of town working. :o(
Amelia and AJ even took several pictures while they cooked. I trained them well!!
Amelia insisted on pictures in bed! Oh please don't look at me!!
At 1 O'clock it was lunch with Mom at Ventura Place, the assisted living place she is now living in. There was a nice buffet.
3 Generations! Just missing Tyler, well, he will be in town another time.
My new video storage unit. This unit rotates, has adjustable shelves, has picture frames, bulletin board, and chalk board! It is awesome!
Sure hope ya'll had a safe, fun, blessed Mother's Day.

3 of us with Warwick Davis, Wicket. Also played on Harry Potter!
The Entrance to Hollywood Studios!
So, have an awesome day, and May the 4th Be With You!!

Better Late than Never? Prom
Ashley and Brooke
Tyler
Tyler didn't go to either of his proms, Junior nor Senior. So imagine my surprise when he decided to drive all the way from Oklahoma City to take Ashley to Prom!
I think they look wonderful, and Ashley's friend Brooke is quite beautiful too.
The corsage! The new wristlets are so cool! :)
So pretty/handsome!!!! one, two, three..... AWE!!
Ashley's Grandpa, Ashley, Tyler, and Kevin. By this time they were getting silly!
Brooke and Ashley, the backs of their dresses! Nothing is simple anymore!
So, Tyler may be a year late, but he finally made prom! Better late than never I guess!?!

Crazed
How can a simple job of repairing the glass in the door turn into the following? Answer: Because it is my house, that's why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My sun room, game room, bar, whatever you want to call it! 6 months ago, when the ceiling was being repaired, there is the wall with the door, and the black out curtains on the 2 windows. (sometimes I don't always get 'before' pics)
Moisture has been building between the panes of glass, Kevin decided he would fix the glass before it got worse and also before it fell out from the kids slamming the door. The other problem, the house is 25 yrs old, and settling. When we have our monsoon season, water would leak in under the door and windows.
So, what is so hard about replacing some glass you ask? As we have learned over the last 16 years, Nothing on this house is standard! A builder built this house for himself. Everything was custom! The door was NOT standard sized, the glass was NOT standard sized. Kev's 'simple' day off job was turning into a major project. Can anyone say C-o-n-t-r-a-c-t-o-r!
Now that is a BIG hole!! I guess having a wall missing isn't that bad, but this W TX and the Wind Blows. Well this afternoon the wind decided to start blowing, and I mean really blow ~ 50mph with gusts at 69mph! I bet you can guess where this is going.... this big hole in the house, 5 hours, windy, = DUST CITY! Ah, why had I bothered to clean on Monday for my son coming??
A new wall had to be built and a frame made because the new door is only a door and one window!
Hey hey, the door is in, no more hole! Progress is being made!
A temporary paint booth was created so they could spray the door, it is fiber glass and didn't want to brush it! The cats were enthralled with all this plastic!
The final product! My new door, the vertical blinds back up, I can hide the door when I want or open them for light for the kitties! And now, I have more wall to hang stuff on. Hmm, guess I'll have to start filling frames, or maybe a run to Hobby Lobby??
Maybe I should concentrate on dusting first. I'm afraid I'll be finding dust in this house for eons! Wish me luck!
