FINALLY!

If you will recall, the flood back on the 4th of July you will remember that we had to have the carpet ripped out!

Such has been the status of my floor since then! Well, a couple of weeks ago like around the middle of the month we ordered laminate flooring. It orginally was going to come in in 2 days and be installed within 3 days. Ha, yeah right!! C'est la vie

Here is the flooring acclimating! I was told it had to be in my home for 24 hours before it could be installed. Well it sat in my dining room for 8 days!

Furniture Everywhere!! It have to leave the den and go somewhere.

New floor going in!

The Supervisor!

Gizmo was curious, R2-D2 was nowhere to be found!

Ready for the last piece!

Just need trim!

I LOVE my new floor!!! The den seems bigger and brighter! I just don't want to have to move all the 'junk' back in! Oh well, guess I'm not in a big rush. Kevin had a great idea, leave everything out and make it a ballroom! Gosh, don't do much ballroom dancing :-)

Hmm, wonder if anymore floors will be in our future??

Ever Dreamed of Joining a Band?

Now you can be joined by a Silly Band!!! Have you seen this latest rage? I have NOT spent one cent on these "SILLY", crazy, dare I say stupid rubber bands and yet look how many AJ and Amelia have!

AJ's collection!

Amelia's Collection!

These silly things are everywhere, and cost a small fortune! AJ decided that he wanted some of these so he asked a friend at school. He came home one day with 6! And the collection grew.

Wish I had invented this craze.  I'd like to be rolling in the dough or stretching in the band!

Jack and the Pumpkin Stalk!

I went to the market the other day and I ended up with this!

Isn't he cute? I just love him. I was so ready for fall. I also learned something new. I asked my husband and he didn't know so I figured others may not know, if you do, I'm sorry, jsut fly on by, but you might learn something too!

It seems that the Irish brought the tradition of the Jack O'Lantern over to America. Alos it wasn't orginally a pumpkin and the legend goes back hundreds of years.

Apparently Stingy Jack was a miserable old drunk who liked to play tricks on everyone: family friends, his mother even the Devil himself. One day, he tricked the Devil into climbing up an apple tree. Once the Devil climbed up the apple tree, Stingy Jack hurriedly placed crosses around the trunk of the tree. The Devil was then unable to get down the tree. Stingy jack made the Devil promise him not to take his soul when he died. Once the devil promised not to take his soul, Stingy Jack removed the crosses and let the Devil Down. Many years later, when Jak finally died, he went to the pearly gates of Heaven and was told by St. Peter that he was too mean and too cruel and had led a miserable and worthless life on earth. He was not allowed to enter heaven. he then went down to Hell and the Devil. The Devil kept his promise and would not allow him to enter Hell.

Jack was left with nowhere to go but to wander about forever in the darkness between heaven and hell. He asked the Devil how he could leave as there was no light. the devil tossed him an ember from the flames of Hell to help him light his was. Jack placed th ember in a hollowed out Turnip, one of his favorite foods which he always carried around with him whenever he could steal one. From that day onward, Stingy Jack roamed the earth without a resting place, lighting his way as he went with his 'Jack O'Lantern'.

On all Hallow's eve the Irish hollowed out Turnips rutabagas, gourds, potatoes, and beets. They placed a light in them to ward off evil spirits and keep Stingy Jak away. These were the original Jack O'Lanterns. In the 1800's a couple of waves of Irish immigrants came to America. The Irish immigrants quickly discoverd the Pumpkins were bigger and easier to carve out so they used pumpkins for Jack O'Lanterns!

So the story goes!

Odd Girl Out!

I think the picture says it all, but I will explain! After all isn't that what a blog is for??! Stephanie came to town for the weekend for the surprise party. But also to shoot Ashley, Senior pictures!!

However, as we were all working on our computers, it struck me, Stephanie was the odd girl out, she doesn't own a MAC! I love my MAC, Ashley loves her MAC, Tyler loves his Mac, Kevin loves Mac, Amelia wants a Mac! In this picture, Stephanie was editing the Senior pictures she took of Ashley, and the few 7th grade pics she took of Amelia!

And for those of you that may be new to my blog, Stephanie is my niece from Oklahoma City. Ashely is my adopted daughter that is my neighbor across the street that tutors Amelia and almost lives here! We had a fast, furious, fun loving weekend.

Kevin's Birthday

Happy Birthday Kev!  Just wanted everyone to know it was your birthday and what a wonderful person you are.

You are an amazing dad, the best husband ever, my best friend, and smartest physician ever.  You are a safe pilot, patient, dedicated,  and fun loving.

Just after the first flight of our home built airplane!

Kevin playing with AJ at WDW!

Kevin, you are so awesome.  You help me on my projects!

You pull over at the state line so I can take these kind of pictures!

You love your children! Kevin and his daughter!

You love to play! Here at a Halloween party, you demonstrate how much fun dry ice can be! The kids loved it!

I could go on I'm sure and come up with 50 reasons why I love you and why you are so awesome, but I don't think my few faithful followers really want to go through 50 pictures!  So I'm just going to leave it at this!

Happy Birthday sweetie, we love you!!  HUGS!!!

Triple Whammy!

I can't believe I did it! I planned, I schemed, I had a nervous break down, but I pulled off three, count 'em three surprises this past weekend!!!!!

First off I surprised Amelia and AJ with a visit from their cousins! Stephanie and the girls came in from OKC with our son Tyler, now the kids knew Tyler was coming, but didn't know about the girls! Bazinga!!

Second, I surprised Kevin with everyone coming to town! How you might ask? Well, seeing as he works out of town A LOT, it kind of slipped my mind to tell him his son, his, niece, and great nieces were coming to town!!! We were going to surprise him on Friday night when he got back in town after being gone 9 days, and everyone arrived, but 'surprisingly' enough, his scheduled changed at the last minute! Kevin didn't get back into town until Saturday morning at 8 am. We had a continuing medical education meeting scheduled for 4 hrs, so his surprise was delayed until noon! It went off quite well! I had to pretend to be surprised too!

After diner we came home, to:

Third: Surprise B-day party!! Bazinga!!!

The kids waiting to surprise Doc!

Someone stepped in front of me, I missed Kevin blowing out his candles!

I didn't get a lot of pictures. Because of the Texas Tech vs UT game we only had 17 friends and family come to the party. But we all had a great time.

Kevin's real b-day gift was a table saw that is absolutely awesome. He, Chris, and Tyler put it together Sunday.

Kev's birthday is tomorrow, the 21st. Happy Birthday sweetie, hope you enjoyed your party! I love you :-)

Continuous Chest Compression CPR—University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center

Did You Know?

I'm a little miffed this morning. Did you know that canned Pumpkin is a seasonal item at Walmart? Really? Don't people cook with pumpkin year round?? I walked up and down the aisle where I assumed it would be 5 times trying to spy it. Finally I spotted an employee and asked. It is seasonal she politely said! Go to United, they have it! I have this really awesome dip and AJ has been asking for it so I thought I'd make it for robotics on Saturday. It is easy to make and goes a LONG way, which is good with hungry kiddos!

But this means I have to make another trip to another store! Really??? Seasonal?? Isn't it close enough to fall to have it in??

Gizmos and Gadgets!

WTBEST robotics kicked off last Saturday! This year will be challenging and exciting for the kids. There are some changes, the spotters have a job in the 'factory'.

Maybe I should backup. The objective of the robot is to sort Gizmos and Gadgets to make sure none of the parts are defective. Then, the robot has to get the product ready for shipping. The driver has to run the robot, and the spotter has to sort the gadgets by color into their respective tubes. Each round is only 3 minutes long.

The Demo Robot demonstrates how to package the gizmos for shipping!

Inventory of the parts ~ you have to build your robot from a box of parts that are supplied to you, you can't use anything that isn't in the box!

AJ checks out Gadgets!

Now for the next 6 weeks the team will be working very hard to design a robot to achieve the goal of the course. Stay tuned for updates! I'll be going to school to help and the team will be working at our house on the weekends!
